Excellent Map, Innovation Showcase + Meta Connection
Ooooh and a chance to fly, or try to at least!
Dearest Bugle reader,
It’s Tuesday, and what says Tuesday more than another 79 seconds of useful/thought-provoking/interesting content from the Bugle?
INFORM: A Map of Excellence
I’m not sure how I stumbled across this map when exploring the West of England Combined Authority website, and it’s really quite useful so I thought you might like it too. It plots over 70 ‘Centres of Excellence’ across Quantum, Aerospace, Creative, Digital, and Professional Services in the West of England. I definitely discovered some Centres I had never heard of before. Like the Umbrella Testbed which is not as the name suggests…
CELEBRATE: Annual Innovation Showcase (8/3, 11:00 - 17:00)
Get involved with the next generation of changemakers and entrepreneurs at the University of Bristol's Centre for Innovation. Watch them pitch live for £75,000 and hear from two inspiring speakers:
Professor Ezio Manzini, distinguished academic and author in the field of design for social innovation and sustainability, and
Mia Collins, entrepreneur and current contestant on The Apprentice.
CONNECT: Something a Little Bit Meta
I’m not bringing you a direct connection this week, but rather two opportunities to level up the connections that you create:
Workshop workshop from Plot Studio - Drawing on 30 years of workshop design and delivery experience, Gill Wildman brings us a hybrid training session/retreat for anyone running workshops/seminars etc.
The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker - this is one of my all time favourite books and a beautiful articulation of the importance of designing gatherings that offer meaningful, memorable moments and deliver objectives whether large and small, for work or play.
JUST FOR FUN… Will you be a bird? Or a plane? Or a UFO? Bristol Birdman is a new charitable adventure taking off in Bristol to raise funds for Grassroot Communities. The Birdman invites you and a team from your company to build a machine, or craft some wings and fly as far as you can (and land on the water) whilst contributing to a charitable cause.
There’s an EXTRA PS this week - with the first 6 months of the Bugle coming to an end this month, I’m in the market for a new sponsor. If your company can spare a few ££s in return for weekly association with this growing newsletter (497 subscribers and growing), please get in touch.
That’s all for this week,
Warmest,
Briony
